Kurumba Maldives recognises Global Wellness Day

9th June has been accepted worldwide as Global Wellness Day with celebrations taking place in 100 countries around the world. “One day can change the whole life” has become the motto of this day. A day of dedication to fitness activities and wellness experience focused on living well and healthy.

At Kurumba Maldives, guests and team members had the opportunity to take part in a range of wellness activities to celebrate this special day.

yogaThe day kicked off with an idyllic Sunrise Yoga session by the beach, followed by Cross Fit Exercise, Kayak Race around the Island and finally ended on an energetic note of a forty-five minutes Zumba class. Take-the-walk challenge was the highlight of the day, with an aim to remind everyone that a simple practice can make a huge difference to our body.

The event saw the participation of not only guests but also team members on “No Selling of Cigarettes” challenge which encouraged smokers to reduce cigarette consumption for a better and healthy lifestyle.

Kurumba Maldives Celebrates Earth Day

Each year on 22nd April, millions of people around the world gather to celebrate Earth Day, holding different activities to honour our home planet.

Kurumba Earth Day 2018

Kurumba Maldives hosted a number of activities for guests and team members to enjoy. The day started with the House Reef & Lagoon cleaning organized by Kurumba’s team followed by the activity of tree planting around the island. A special Green & Back of House Tour was also conducted by the Recreation team which coincides with the Grand Opening of our second Green House on the island. To end the day’s celebration, a traditional Maldivian Bodu Mas show was held during the resort’s weekly Management cocktail which left guests in awe of this unique performance.

Also to commemorate this event, two of the resort’s restaurants, Café & Thila, offered a special discount on their Vegetarian menu. Glass bottles were used in place of plastic bottles in all the food and beverage outlets as well as the rooms’ mini bar.

Lumbo Theyo Dhemun: this full body herb-infused oil massage has been developed to reduce stiff, tense muscles and is followed by a body wrap. The oils used to perform this treatment are part of a secret recipe developed by Maldivian healers alongside our Spa Manager Mrs. Aishath Zulfishan.

Hilot and Malay Fusion Massage: this treatment focuses on ancient methods passed down through generations of Filipino and Malay cultures, the techniques of which help improve the emotional, physical and spiritual well-being of guests. Warmed coconut or herbal oil are placed over the body with banana leaves to reduce tension, imbalances and blockages in the body.

Majaa Recreation, Kurumba MaldivesMajaa Recreation has taken over a much larger space, allowing a larger number of new and exciting facilities. This includes a new cinema room, outdoor games area, marine center, Wii games area, PlayStation Pods, library and outdoor play area, as well as a new water splash pad for younger children.

At the same time, the resort also added younger children’s outdoor games, a giant chess board games and a sand pit.

Kurumba Maldives is ready to celebrate Christmas and New Year, paradise style! With a series of gastronomic experiences, presented by our Executive Chef Glen Cooper and his culinary team, guests can enjoy a varied selection of delicacies and classy, cosmopolitan events.

The festive events include unique activities such as wine tastings set in the sparkling blue lagoon, cocktail mixology classes and cooking demonstrations. For kids, a fashion show, a gingerbread competition and a visit from Santa himself along with many other activities will keep them entertained throughout this special period.

On Christmas Eve, dinner in Thila will showcase an exciting and vibrant buffet complete with live cooking stations, followed by entertainment at Kandu Bar, which is not to be missed!

On Christmas Day, our team will perform the classic Christmas Carols at Kandu Bar – an annual tradition – and for the children, a kids party will be organized at the poolside to meet the one and only: Santa.

On New Year’s Eve, the theme “White Party” will take center stage; glamorously dressed guests will walk down the red carpet, starting the celebrations with bubbles. A comprehensive and lavish buffet will be served in Thila. Entertainment during dinner and a few surprise performances will culminate with a fabulous awards ceremony, especially for guests, including categories such as “Best Dressed”, as well as a raffle draw. The party will move into Kandu Bar as the night progresses, with songs from one of the most popular live bands in the Maldives and a mixture of classics and best tunes from our resident DJ.

Welcome 2017 with a complimentary New Year’s Day recovery brunch served from 8.00am until 2.30pm.
