Kuramathi secures Travelife Gold once again

The successful merit comes after an in-depth audit of the resort’s contribution and effort towards sustainability. As this is the 3rd consecutive title conferred by the Travelife group; specific elements of the resort operations had to meet the stringent criteria of waste management, energy and water management, recycling to the welfare of staffing, etc.

Apart from being a splendid choice for honeymooners, families and food connoisseurs, the 1.8km resort island actively contributes to the environment and the natural surroundings thanks to the green initiatives and eco-conscious thinking integrated into the daily operations.

It is crucial to highlight some initiatives by the Eco Centre as well over the years that have been implemented and put into practice. At present, the food and beverage department is undergoing an innovative process to replace single-use plastic straws with biodegradable paper straws, and paper coasters are one project that has paved way for a significant change. Usage of home-made distilled, purified water in glass bottles tackles the consumption of plastic bottles; while electric buggies for commutation limits the utilization of fuel.

The progressive ideas adapt to the changing habits of the world and its major problems pertaining to climate change. As the world gears up for more conservative and sustainable measures to limit the carbon footprint and preserve the beauty of our planet; more and more research is done to play our part to educate, inspire and cultivate and harness the knowledge.

Recently; Kuramathi has also introduced coral-friendly sunscreen lotions to combat the damage of floating chemicals that is detrimental to coral growth. This is part of an intricate drive to encourage and foster guest’s support in using coral friendly products, to protect and upkeep our pristine surroundings.

Congratulations once again for the steadfast resolve wielded by the team members of Kuramathi!

Sweet delights of Kuramathi

This month, we feature some of our finest cakes on offer for our guests. Some are revamped
renditions of existing cakes recreated to suit the ambience of our tropical island.
Birthday cake: Heart or pebble-shaped, this vanilla cream cheesecake provides a rich, yummy
experience!

Screwpine Mousse Cake: A refined version of an authentic Maldivian delicacy, available at The Reef.
Wedding cake: The traditional cake fit for a romantic ceremony and as a sugary feast!

The croissant trilogy: Inspired by our Executive Pastry Chef Nicolas Descriaux – This is a delectable
a mix of the traditional croissant, (pairs perfectly with a cup of coffee), almond croissant with a vanilla
almond cream centre, and the innovative bi-coloured croissants flaunting aesthetic pleasure both in
and out!

And lastly, what steals the show is two entries from our fine dining Duniye restaurant. Firstly, the
cleverly coined ‘Acidulous Verbena Mouth Watering Ball’ a lightness, the right balance between
sweet and tangy flavours. Last but not the least; the aptly named ‘Lemongrass and Ginger Panna
Cotta with Aloe Vera Salsa’; a dessert dish created solely to tantalise the taste buds!

Behind the scenes with the bakery and pastry team of Kuramathi Maldives

With a total of 13 restaurants nestled on a 1.8km island, Kuramathi Maldives is renowned for variety in cuisine, especially with a value added All Inclusive plans. Catering mostly to guests from around the world, Kuramathi has created unique dining experiences with seasonal promotions at the different à la carte restaurants. And with this new year, the resort has plans to introduce new flavourful chapters for eager food aficionados.

This month, we would like to highlight the success story of a closely knit team that provides fresh, homemade bread to our belt of restaurants. Early risers would get a whiff of the desirable scent trailed by hot bread and warm croissants created fresh by our dedicated bakery team. Their relentless work ethic has paved way to introduce a robust choice ranging from the classic French baguette to different Italian ciabatta and German breads such as black forest, pumpernickel to the signature styled purple sweet corn and cranberry bread; the brainchild of our French chefs.

It is no doubt that in today’s world, the French baguette is a quintessential food item of France. Like wine, beret or cheese, it has become a symbol. The crust of the baguettes is crispy and golden brown, while on the inside, soft, chewy and honeycombed. We are proud to feature the same consistency in the French baguettes served on Kuramathi; a somewhat remarkable piece of France on a tropical island.
