Dubai developer Emaar has announced the expansion of its hospitality division into South Asia with a management contract for a new resort in the Maldives.
Address Madivaru Maldives Resort + Spa will span 75,000sqm on the 2.42 sq km Ethere Madivaru Private Island, owned by Finolhu Investment Ltd chairman Adam Abdul Gafoor.
It will include 80 beach and overwater villas, dedicated spa and water sport, floating restaurants and lounges, over-water fitness facilities, swimming pools and children’s play areas.
The property, which is 20 minutes from Male International by seaplane, is scheduled to be operational in 2020.
“We will work closely in the design and development of the hotel project, with a focus on maximising its oceanfront location,” said Emaar Hospitality Group CEO Olivier Harnisch.

Emaar Hospitality currently has 11 operational hotels and three serviced residences in Dubai as well as upcoming projects in the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Turkey.
After the successful Sounds of Maldives music series events in Kuda Bandos island (Maldives), Colombo, Kuala Lumpur and Bangalore, this year the event is set to take place at Dusit Thani Dubai on 5th May 2015 as the entertainment segment of MATATO Maldives Travel Awards 2015 Special Edition.
