The Residence Maldives’ Second Resort To Open In 2016

Following the opening of The Residence Maldives by Cenizaro at Falhumaafushi in 2012, the leading international hospitality company – Cenizaro Hotels and Resorts, has announced the addition of The Residence Maldives at Dhigurah to their portfolio which is scheduled to open in 2016.
The two properties lies in two separate islands in Gaafu Alifu atoll, the northern half of the world’s largest natural atoll, Huvadhoo in the south of Maldives. The two islands when linked by a bridge will form one of the largest resort offerings in the Maldives.
Dhigurah which is three times larger than Falhumaafushi is being developed specifically with families in mind. The 173 expansive beach and overwater villas are designed for ample natural lighting and rich tones of wood and stone to create a luxurious ambience.
Li Bai, a sister to the renowned Cantonese restaurant at Sheraton Towers Singapore and Spa by Clarins will be featured along with a playground for younger guests, where there will be plenty of space to explore and learn.

The Residence Maldives at Dhigurah is a dream location for snorkellers and divers as the reefs in the atoll that escaped the devastating coral bleaching caused by the El Nino of 1988. These colorful reefs are home to more than 250 species of coral and 1,200 species of marine life. Green turtle, spinner and bottlenose dolphins, manta and eagle rays as well as the more unusual ribbon eels, leaf, frog and ghost pipe fish are frequent visitors to this area, giving guests an exciting opportunity to watch these magnificent creatures.

The opening of The Residence Maldives at Dhigurah will bring The Residence by Cenizaro to five hotels and resorts. Its currently there are four luxurious hotels in Mauritius, Tunis, Zanzibar and the Maldives. Further expansion is planned over the next three years with; two hotels in Tunisia – Douz and The Medina of Tunis and one in Bintan, Indonesia.
