Baglioni Resort Maldives to open next year

Italian hotel chain Baglioni Hotels to launch its first Maldives resort early 2017, on the island of Maagau in Dhaalu atoll, after the company announced record profits for 2015.
“Our positive progress confirms the validity of our business model and the management that typifies our collection of luxury five-star hotels positioned in highly popular cities for tourists,” explained company executive Guido Polito.
The 99 villa resort will become the first luxury Italian five-star resort in the Maldives, more than four decades after Italian entrepreneurs first spotted the potential of tourism in the pristine atolls.
Baglioni will also include three restaurants, a swimming pool and bar, spa and diving centre; aiming to provide unique Italian hospitality in the heart of the Indian Ocean.
Also known as South Nilandhe Atoll, Dhaalu atoll has 56 islands and is currently home to four of the Maldives’ 114 registered island resorts.
Baglioni – currently based in Italy and London – has announced its intention to double its international presence after revealing that annual turnover had grown by 18 percent in 2015.
