Pres. sends sympathy to Japanese PM following the Tsunami

President Mohamed Nasheed has sent a message of sympathy to Prime Minister of Japan Naoto Kan following the loss of many lives, injury to many people, and extensive damage caused by the massive earthquake that hit Northern parts of the country and the tsunami triggered by the earthquake.
The President said that it was with deep shock and sadness that he learned about the powerful earthquake and tsunami that hit parts of Northern Japan causing loss of lives and injury to hundreds of people, as well as extensive destruction to property and infrastructure.
He said that the Government and people of the Maldives join him in conveying our deepest sympathy to Japanese Prime Minister, the Government and the people of Japan, and in particular, to those who were directly affected by this tragedy.
Vice President Dr Mohamed Waheed also sent a message of sympathy to Prime Minister Kan following the loss of lives, injury and widespread destruction caused by the earthquake and the tsunami.
He sent condolences of to the bereaved families, and sympathy to the Prime Minister, the government and the people of Japan.
